In January 2014 the International Biathlon Union (IBU) has reported an anti-doping rule violation against the Russian Athlete after her A and B samples - provided in December and in January 2014 - tested positive for the prohibited substance recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO).
Previously in 2009 the Athlete was sanctioned for 2 years, also for the presence of rhEPO. After notification a provisional suspension was ordered. The Athlete gave a prompt admission, finished her sport career and waived her right to be heard for the IBU Anti-Doping Hearing Panel (ADHP).
The ADHP finds that the test results establish the presence of a prohibited substance and that the Athlete gave a prompt admission about the second anti-doping rule violation without grounds for a reduced sanction.
Therefore the ADHP decides on 14 July 2014 to impose an 8 year period of ineligibility on the Athlete starting on the date of the sample collection, i.e. on 23 December 2013.
